The Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD)
is a UNEP facilitated knowledge network of Centres of Excellence and network partners
worldwide.
The main objective of GNESD is to carry out
policy analysis on thematic energy issues which can facilitate in
reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

GNESD Policy Paper
The GNESD Policy Paper on Energy, Climate Change
and Poverty Alleviation is now available in print.
The paper examines the complex links between
climate change, energy and policy, with contributions from
AFREPREN
(Climate Change and Energy Security in East Africa),
ENDA-TM
(Energy in the National Adaptation Programmes of Action in Africa)
and
Fundacion Bariloche (Energy Poverty and Climate Change in
Latin America and the Caribbean: Current situation and
perspectives).

AGECC highlights GNESD's knowledge
development
The UN Secretary General’s Advisory Group on
Energy and Climate Change (AGECC) highlights GNESD as a good
example of knowledge creation and sharing on energy policy
analysis in achieving the MDGs and Universal access to energy for
all by 2030.

Documentary on Urban and Peri-Urban Energy Access
During COP 15 GNESD launched its first
documentary based on the findings of the "Access to rnergy for the
poor living in urban and peri-urban areas" theme. The documentary
is filmed in Thailand, Kenya and Argentina.
